Took stances on a bill between 2025-05-20T00:00:00.000Z and 2025-06-17T00:00:00.000Z
Bill Name
GENIUS Act

Details
The GENIUS Act of 2025 proposes a regulatory framework for payment stablecoins. It defines permitted issuers (insured depository institutions, their subsidiaries, and approved nonbank entities) and mandates 1:1 reserve backing with specific high-quality assets. The bill outlines federal and state regulatory oversight options, sets requirements for customer asset segregation, and grants stablecoin holders priority in insolvency proceedings. It also clarifies that regulated payment stablecoins are not considered securities or commodities under various acts. The bill designates issuers as financial institutions under the Bank Secrecy Act, requiring compliance with AML, KYC, and sanctions regulations to prevent illicit finance and safeguard national security. It also reinforces U.S. leadership in digital finance by supporting innovation and ensuring the dollar remains competitive in a rapidly evolving global financial landscape.

America pays nearly five times more than anywhere else in the world in credit card fees. The average American family pays $1,200 in swipe fees each year. If we can move on crypto legislation, we will also move on swipe fee legislation to immediately give financial relief to es. This will be a double win for President Trump that puts Main Street over Wall Street.

It is deeply concerning that bad actors like Russia are using crypto to evade sanctions. If this administration won't fully enforce sanctions, how will they ever be effective? wsj.com/livecoverage/s…

In a video, Senator Marshall admitted that he and Senator Warren approached the American Bankers Association (ABA), the largest lobbying organization for the U.S. banking industry, for assistance in crafting the Digital Asset Anti-Money Laundering Act. Senator Marshall also mentioned Warren’s meeting with JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, who agreed that "crypto is only a tool for criminals." The footage was sourced from a parliamentary security intelligence forum earlier in December.

Crypto has become a crucial pipeline for financing terrorist organizations like Hamas. The exploitation of this revenue stream demonstrates the dangerous gaps in our oversight of international money flow. Read More about ways to protect these payments. ⬇️ https://t.co/9lO902fdyn

Terrorists, rogue nations, drug traffickers and other criminals are enlisting cryptocurrency to endanger our allies and U.S. national security. It’s past time to apply the same anti-money laundering rules to crypto, write @SenWarren and @RogerMarshallMD on.wsj.com/3FpcBai

The abuse of crypto by terrorist organizations has been going on for years, and Hamas is following suit to finance their deadly attacks on Israel. We are urging the White House to take action to prevent Hamas from using crypto to finance another tragedy. reuters.com/world/us/lawma…

Hamas, the terrorist organization brutally killing women and children, uses cryptocurrency to finance its deadly operations. The abuse of crypto by terrorist organizations has been going on for years. We must do more to combat this highly effective terrorism financing tool.

Quoted from warren.senate.gov on 2023-07-28

Senator Roger Marshall, along with Senator Elizabeth Warren and others, reintroduced the Digital Asset Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2023. The legislation would classify certain industry participants, including individual miners and validators, as financial institutions subject to the Bank Secrecy Act compliance regime. Treating these entities commensurate with the largest banks, hedge funds, and money transmitters would weigh them down with unnecessary compliance, stifle innovation, hinder industry growth, and force activity offshore to jurisdictions with less adequate security and oversight.
