No authoritarian government — especially one that understands the liberating power of Bitcoin in the hands of its people — would ever do what El Salvador is doing. That alone should make the world rethink the opposition narratives about President @nayibbukele. He is leading one of the most ambitious national transformations of our time, and it is precisely the scale and courage of these reforms that draw criticism. Something he himself fully understands.
Spend two hours with him, as I did, and it becomes clear why Salvadorans support him so deeply. He speaks with clarity, conviction, and an unmistakable love for his country. No topic was off-limits; no question was too sensitive.
What surprised me most was how genuine and grounded he is — even empathetic toward those who criticize him, and remarkably protective of his own opposition. This is not how authoritarians behave. This is how confident, future-oriented leaders behave — leaders who trust their people enough to give them real economic sovereignty.
Bitcoin is the opposite of government control. It is freedom, transparency, and individual empowerment. And President Bukele has embraced it as a legal tender not to consolidate power, but to distribute it. That is why he remains so overwhelmingly popular: Salvadorans can feel, every day, that the direction of their country is finally shifting in their favor.
The world should take note. Engage him, listen to him, challenge him. He is a force for positive change — not against it.
